Esistono idoli che scegli quando sei bambino e che ti accompagneranno per tutta la tua vita.
Io nel 1996 ho scelto il mio: Valentino Rossi.
Più dei numeri, più delle vittorie, più dei record, a me incuriosiva il suo essere.
Trascinare tutti, nel bene o nel male, anche i non appassionati di moto.
Era impossibile non notarlo e così fu anche per me.
Avevo 6 anni, nel 1996, quando lo vidi in tv la prima volta, e da quel momento divenne parte integrante
della mia vita.
Ogni domenica ero davanti la tv a tifare per lui, ma, più che altro, mi interessava capire come facesse.
Come facesse ad essere sempre il più forte nonostante ci fossero tanti altri campioni altrettanto bravi. La
risposta la trovai anni dopo crescendo.
Valentino è sempre stato l’esempio del mettersi in discussione, di sfidare gli altri, si, ma per migliorare se
stessi, parlare quando è necessario, assumersi le responsabilità.
Uno delle sue imprese più grandi fu sicuramente quella del 2004: abbandonare la Honda, moto dominante
per passare in Yamaha che all’epoca non era quella di oggi, e vincere, zittendo tutti.
Mi ricordo ancora le parole dei suoi haters prima di quel momento: “vince solo perché ha la moto più
forte”…certo!
Ha fallito anche lui ( ricordiamo gli anni in Ducati), ma ha saputo rialzarsi e guardare avanti, ed ora che
invece gli chiedono fino alla noia perché continua, lui risponde: “finche sono veloce e mi diverto, perché
dovrei smettere?”.
Potrei scrivere tanto tanto altro, ma credo che mi servirebbe l’intero giornale, caro Valentino, per spiegare
e spiegarti quanto mi hai dato, ma mi limiterò a dirti grazie, anche se non leggerai mai queste righe.
