Continua l’astinenza dalla vittoria per la Polisportiva S. Maria che, nel match di domenica col Paternò, deve accontentarsi di un solo punto, nonostante le diverse occasioni create e la buona prestazione disputata. Partita dai due volti, quella del ‘Carrano’, dove ad un primo tempo equilibrato e senza troppi sussulti, è seguita una ripresa più movimentata con un gol (Maggio su rigore per i cilentani, Mazzocchi per gli etnei) ed un’espulsione per parte, oltre a diverse conclusioni in porta per gli uomini di mister Esposito, ribattute dall’estremo difensore Cavalli. Proprio Cavalli al 38’st ha lasciato anzitempo il campo per il doppio cartellino giallo, seguito al 50’st dal locale D’Amico.
“C’è solo da fare i complimenti ai ragazzi – ha dichiarato il vice allenatore Cosimo Baldassarre al termine della gara – Siamo molto orgogliosi della prestazione che hanno fatto. Purtroppo abbiamo pagato caro l’unica nostra disattenzione in occasione del pareggio del Paternò. I nostri calciatori hanno fatto una grande partita, sono stati cattivi sui palloni, hanno palleggiato bene e preso campo agli avversari. Ma il calcio è anche questo: basta una singola disattenzione e la paghi cara. Stanno venendo a mancare i risultati ma non le prestazioni, quindi, dobbiamo continuare a lavorare come stiamo facendo. Negli ultimi 15 giorni, vista la sosta dell’altra settimana, i ragazzi si sono allenati davvero bene. Ed è questo che dobbiamo fare: lavorare tanto in allenamento e dare il massimo ogni domenica, solo così torneremo alla vittoria e completeremo al meglio la parte restante del campionato”.
Chiusura di mister Baldassarre sull’autore del gol e sul rientro in gruppo di Campanella e Vincenzo Romano: “Siamo tutti felici per il ritorno al gol di Mimmo, così come siamo felici di recuperare parte dei giocatori che sono stati fuori per infortuni. Ci daranno sicuramente una mano e tanto entusiasmo in questo finale di campionato”.
