Grande prova di orgoglio per i giallorossi di mister Esposito che, nonostante una rosa decimata dagli infortuni e con ben 6 under in campo, nel match casalingo di domenica scorsa hanno avuto la meglio sulla Cittanovese, rifilando agli avversari un tris di reti con Ragosta, Konios e Fofoue.
Reduce dalla sconfitta con l’Acireale che, oltre a non portare punti, aveva anche falcidiato la squadra (out Romano V., Pastore e Sagliano, a mezzo servizio Capozzoli), per la Polisportiva S. Maria si preannunciava una gara problematica, da affrontare con concentrazione e cattiveria agonistica per compensare le tante assenze. I giallorossi alla fine ci sono riusciti, mettendo a frutto il lavoro svolto durante gli allenamenti e sfoderando un’ottima prestazione. Sugli scudi i giovani Konios e Fofoue, autori di due dei tre gol cilentani, ma ciò che ha fatto davvero la differenza è stata la compattezza di un gruppo che con determinazione ha saputo sopperire alla mancanza di alcune pedine.
Tanto l’entusiasmo, quindi, per la netta vittoria, ma per la Polisportiva non è tempo di cullarsi sugli allori: ben 4 gli incontri che aspettano i giallorossi in queste due prossime settimane. Mercoledì 17 si torna subito in campo per recuperare la partita col Troina, valevole per la 9a giornata del gir. I, rimandata a suo tempo causa Covid-19; domenica 21 il derby con la Gelbison darà il via al girone di ritorno; mercoledì 24 il turno infrasettimanale vedrà i giallorossi in trasferta a Rotonda; il 28 il mese di febbraio si chiuderà ospitando il Castrovillari. Molti impegni ma anche diverse certezze per il S. Maria, come dichiarato dal suo preparatore atletico Armando Caponigro nel post partita con la Cittanovese: “Non è facile recuperare subito lo sforzo di una gara se devi giocare ogni 3 giorni, ma i ragazzi ci hanno dimostrato che possiamo contare davvero su tutti. Magari mercoledì giocheranno altri interpreti, bisogna valutare le condizioni. Ciò che sappiamo è che tutti si faranno trovare pronti”.
