Marco Van Basten, il Cigno di Utrecht è senza alcun dubbio il migliore centravanti che abbiamo mai giocato in Italia ed in Europa negli anni 80-90.
Classe, tecnica sopraffina e prestanza atletica fanno dell’Olandese un mix di assoluta maestosità e letalita’ per le difese avversarie.
Cresce nell’Ajax con cui dalle giovanili alla prima squadra dà subito l’impressione di essere un predestinato, tant’è che il Milan lo acquista nel 1987 divenendo stella indiscussa di un Milan che vincerà tutto in quegli anni
Insieme agli altri due Olandesi Gullit e Rijkaard riesce nell’impresa di vincere 3 coppe dei campioni, due coppe Intercontinentali e 5 scudetti.
Dal punto di vista personale vince 3 palloni d’oro ed un Europeo nell’88
Memorabile quando segna in finale dell’Europeo del 1988 in cui riesce a segnare al volo da posizione impossibile laterale destra insaccando sul set al lato opposto.
Tutt’oggi quel gesto tecnico rappresenta uno dei gol più belli nella storia nel calcio, altrettanto memorabile fu quando l’allenatore dell’Olanda ebbe la reazione di mettersi le mani nei capelli subito dopo quel gesto.
I veri Milanisti non potranno neanche dimenticare quando col Goteborg in Champions League fece una quaterna con un gol in rovesciata dai 16 metri.
Ritiratosi ad appena 29 anni per problemi a quella maledetta caviglia ,Marco Van Basten è di sicuro l’olandese più importante nel calcio mondiale insieme e Cuijff.
