L’aeroplanino più famoso d’Italia si chiama Vincenzo Montella classe 1974 e nativo di Pomigliano d’Arco.
Montella è uno dei giocatori più influenti per noi nostalgici del periodo 90-2000.
Di padre operaio dell’allora Alfa sud, Vincenzo muove i suoi passi già a 13 anni con le giovanili dell’Empoli e già si vede il talento puro di un ragazzino che farà storia nel campionato Italiano.
Esplode nel Genoa con cui fa valere tutte le sue potenzialità con quel piede sinistro con cui riesce ad incantare platee intere
Con i genoani vince la coppa Anglo Italiana nel 1996 e nell’estate stessa fa clamore il suo passaggio alla sponda Sampdoriana.
Con i Blucerchiati resta dal 1996 al 1999 con cui sigla 54 goal in 84 partite con una media gol di assoluto rispetto.
Nell’estate del 1999 si accasa alla Roma con la quale vince uno scudetto nel 2001 nonostante le frequenti liti con l’allenatore Capello, famosa la scena di quando dopo reiterate e precedenti sostituzioni si rifiuta di entrare in campo su richiesta di Capello.
Di lui ci ricordiamo degli straordinari gol segnati durante i derby capitolini con uno su tutti il pallonetto dai 18 metri ai danni di Peruzzi con palla che accarezza la traversa ed entra alle spalle del portiere laziale
Con la Roma realizza 85 reti contribuendo alla vittoria di scudetto, coppa Italia e supercoppa Italiana.
Dopo la Roma peregrina in Inghilterra col Fulham e di nuovo alla Sampdoria ma senza fortuna.
Con la Nazionale raccimola solo un 2° posto a quei maledetti Europei 2000 persi a 20 secondi dalla fine.
Dopo la carriera di calciatore inizia quella di allenatore con Fiorentina e Roma.
Montella resta un grande giocatore e protagonista di quella Serie A che oggi rappresenta un triste ricordo se paragonata al campionato di oggi.
