Un mito unico, vari campioni e tanti onesti mestieranti hanno vestito negli anni la casacca azzurra; questa è la storia di alcuni di loro, nei miei personali ricordi…

Quella domenica di novembre del 1985 a Napoli fa freddo e piove. Il calendario segna il giorno 3 e si gioca tutti alle 14:30, come si usava una volta; chi non era allo stadio stava incollato alla radiolina, a trepidare nel posto più isolato della casa.
La Juventus di Trapattoni viene da una lunga serie di vittorie, noi stiamo studiando per diventare forti, attorno a Maradona adesso ci sono anche Bagni, Giordano, Renica, e altri arriveranno presto.
Partita combattuta che non si sblocca; stiamo per assistere a qualcosa da consegnare alla Storia. Punizione in area decentrata a destra, barriera folta e vicinissima al pallone, Pecci tocca a Diego che accarezza la sfera ed inventa una parabola incredibile, che si insacca tra incrocio dei pali e Tacconi disperatamente proteso a corpo intero.
Eraldo Pecci, chiariamo subito, è stato un ottimo centrocampista, regista classico, dai piedi buoni con trascorsi proficui con Torino e Fiorentina. La sua esperienza a Napoli è breve – 24 presenze, 1 gol – lascia, pare, per motivi familiari e non fa a tempo a partecipare alle stagioni vincenti che verranno. Terminerà poi col Bologna la sua buona carriera.
Romagnolo schietto e sincero, ricorda la breve esperienza napoletana con nostalgia. Spesso è stato chiamato a commentare quell’episodio, le sue parole che pressappoco sono “non volevo passargli quel pallone, gli dicevo Diego non c’è spazio, e Lui: tranquillo, faccio gol lo stesso” sottolineano la straordinarietà dell’episodio.
Ritiratosi dal calcio giocato Eraldo diventa arguto commentatore televisivo e scrittore (ha pubblicato 2 libri che raccontano il calcio della sua generazione, quello del 2018 “Ci piaceva giocare a pallone” è da leggere).
In rete una frase a lui attribuita: “Se muore un campione si ritira la maglia, se muore Maradona si ritira il pallone”, è la sintesi perfetta di cosa ha rappresentato Diego per il calcio.
